INTERMEDIATE (MEDIATE) ANTECEDENT AS A STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC UNIT OF ANAPHORICAL RELATIONSHIPS

Abstract

Abstract. The article is devoted to the intermediate (mediated) antecedent as a structural-semantic unit of anaphoric relations.  The definition of the intermediate (mediated) antecedent within the semantic organization of a sentence and related syntactic constructions is of particular relevance. The purpose of the study is to investigate and describe the intermediate (mediated) antecedent in syntactic constructions. Achieving this goal involves solving the following tasks:

1. to generalize the concept of anaphoric relations as a type of semantic relation;
2. to investigate anaphoric relations with the intermediate (mediated) antecedent in literary

Anaphoric relations, as a means of connectivity between the components of semantic text structure, are represented by various patterns, where one or two intermediate (mediated) antecedents can be identified. Syntactic constructions with intermediate antecedents encompass rather large text fragments, ensuring referential, grammatical, and semantic coherence.

Attention is drawn to the fact that, in the process of analyzing anaphoric relations, there are various ways of employing the intermediate (mediated) antecedent as a structural-semantic unit of anaphoric relations. In literary texts, it can be represented by a synonym, hyperonym, substantivized adjective, noun, vocative, taxonomic description, as well as lexical-semantic units with positive or negative axiological meaning.
